Fashionista: Yes, Blogger: No

Hey, fellow fashionistas, bloggers...

Or possibly just myself if I don't find a way to promote this.

I am new to this whole "blogging" thing, but figured it was probably time to start.  I think I'll just take some time to introduce myself to you all :)

Name:  Jonna "Jayy" Marie Hyatt
Nickname: Jayy, Jayy Fabulous (yes, the extra "y" IS intentional)
Favorite Color: I love them all, but teal is on top right now.
Favorite Food: Sushi, hence the name. I'm ready for some authentic NY sushi. :)
Favorite Musician: SoMo is on repeat in my car 24/7, but I have a musician in my life that's probably even better. *COUGH* Isaac Miller *COUGH*
Favorite Movie: Confessions of a Shopaholic or The Devil Wears Prada, but I have a weakness for Nicholas Sparks films... like every other girl on the planet.
Best Friend: I have a ton of really amazing friends, and most of them I grew up with... but I'd say Harlie Kendall Griggs holds the BFF card (off and on since 6th grade... kind of kidding).
College: College of the Ozarks, go Bobcats! Yeah, I'm a cheerleader.
Major/Minor: BS in Sociology with a minor in Clothing and Textiles
Goal: To make a name for myself in the fashion industry. Likely in public relations or human resources (that's where the "Sociology" comes into play)... but fashion merchandising is definitely my ultimate dream.

But let's cut to the chase. I'm sure playing Trivial Pursuit: Jayy Fabulous Edition isn't totally worth reading.

My whole life, I've had a "passion for fashion." I could punch myself for using that phrase, but it is so true. There is nothing I enjoy more than dressing up, checking out color schemes, accessorizing, catching up on the latest trends, and reading Teen Vogue and Glamour.

I've learned that through the years that while I LOVE shopping, clothes, and styling... It didn't really seem like a realistic field.  I was supposed to go into something that included the "Three P's": pay, privileges, and publicity. Basically, I chose to become a high school counselor because everything seemed to line up.  To be one, the pay isn't too shabby, the privileges are excellent, and everyone in the community recognizes you for helping their children with their future.

But that was when it hit me: I was going to school to help other people with their futures, when I hadn't really thought about what was going to happen with mine.

Was I going to be happy? Did I have a passion for kids? Would I love walking into the office everyday?

I couldn't answer any of those questions with full confidence.  So while I was sorting through this case of self-doubt and uncertainty, an opportunity so huge fell into my lap that I'm still on "cloud nine."

I will be interning this summer in New York City for fashion designer/entrepreneur/stylist Stacy Igel.  She is the owner of Boy Meets Girl USA, a popular fashion line in NYC/globally.

This is my chance, this is my shot.  To prove that this is where I belong.  So while the readers of this blog might be limited, just know this: I'm following my dream, and I will succeed.

And you will too. Just make sure that you're doing what you WANT to do.  Not for the money, fortune, benefits, or for the approval of  everyone else around you.

Find what you would be able to do for the rest of your life without compensation. That is the field of study of advise you to go into.

Believe in yourself, because at the end of the day, loving who you are is the most important thing.  Everything else will fall into place.

Shoes and Starbucks,

Jayy Fabulous <3
